Sounds brilliant. My father and I shall be coming over sometime around the second week of August... I'll pm you nearer the time to see if you are around. May also ask advice on local camping spots or roads that only a local may find type things.

Meringen is a good base for a couple of days. I stayed at the Parkhotel Sauvage in the centre of town. Okay but not cheap. Have a look at www.booking.com as there are a couple of cheaper options - the Hotel Tourist at the base of the Grimsel pass looks okay at about £60 for DB&B

Didn't see this post in time, Rob. I had a great day ticking off Cols on a 150 mile lap from Bussang up to the Col de la Schlutt and back.

Off to meet a friend tomorrow, who lives a few km west of Mulhouse.
