Well not anymore ;)

My bikes over three years old now,
bmw did offer to give me a new fork brace
but i had to pay for the labour :(
So i thought i'd have a go at polishing
the offending brace :)

Wheel out

fork brace

Did you use a mop that fits in a drill or was it a bench one?been thinking about mine too,was going to spray it,but now I have seen yours and how good they come up I'm having second thoughts.Have you sprayed it with anything, clear laquer so you don't have to keep polishing it?.Top job:thumb

I once had a spare winter so I polished a WHOLE moto guzzi engine and gearbox. Even between the fins. It was lovely. I will post a picofit sometime

Looks just like my fork brace. I was going to have the brace replaced under warranty due to peeling paint, but told Shaun at Rainbown that I was concerned that I would be faced with the same problem in a couple of years. He mentioned the polished option and offered the job under warranty. That was last July or early August, and it still looks like it was polished yesterday.

1100GS brace

The paint is flaking off my now 6 year old 1100GS, is this of the same contruction as the 1150GS, ie can it be polished up, I was going to buy a new unit.

thanks

Gary.

Hopefully like Mike R's it should last a while without laquer ;)

I knew i shoulda brought a Harley :yelrotflm

I`ve also been trying to polish some parts, wheel rims, carb covers, paralever strut and so. Quite easy but need nerves!

My father has polished parts inside of his RT pic
Don`t know if they help anything..

The metal these bits are made of are pretty crap, but I've got a spare 1100 bridge that is going to the anodisers soon. If it dosen't disolve, I'll post a piccie.

How do you do that? I struggle to get a spare evening.

Pass the valium.... then the prozac....

Having a similar problem with mine, no corrosion just the paint peeling off. I think it was the grease protecting the bolts through the winter months that caused the problem, I was just going to re-paint them.
