Hi,

I've misplaced my workshop CD.
Can anyone tell me the correct weight and quantity (or measurement from the top) of oil to put in the F650 GD Dakar Y2K Please?
Err! Standard springs fitted.

I took the bike to the local bike shop to get the fork brace bolts extracted and the seals replaced. But there was some confusion as to the correct quantity needed. The reference book stated the 650gs needs more than the Dakar. I would have thought that with the longer stanchions the Dakar would need a greater quantity than the GS :nenau

So I though I better check.

Cheer Val.

No problem :)

Maybe the Dakar uses less oil to give easier movement, ie softer :nenau Bet this has caught a few people out.

Assuming the internals are the same :mmmm

If it helps...

...for my STD GS the manual states 600 ml. with 7.5 W.

Last year I have replaced the fork seals and, according to the F650.com, I have filled the forks with 610 ml. ( and 10W Castrol fork oil).

No problems at all. :thumb

:beerjug:

I replaced the O/E 7.5 fork oil with 10w , big improvement in my opinion. :thumb2

Do you have Progressive springs fitted, or still running standard?

A jump up to 10w from 7.5w seems a little harsh if the standard springs remain fitted :nenau
