Forks leaking oil....advice needed.

Yup! They put two of them on it for 20 mins, and do a great job, much better than I'd have the patience to do.

I'm kinda new to this bike maintenance thing, and the fettling that these enduro bikes need....so learning all the time. I do change the oil / clean air filter / check wheel bearings for play etc myself.

It never occurred to me to check the cleanliness of the fork legs.

Can't understand why you don't do it yourself, it really pays dividends with a dirtbike......... more so than a roadbike

Part of the ownership, cleaning and maintenance - where dirtbikes are involved

Pressure washer, bucket and sponge takes about 20-30 mins
Drying off - 10 mins
Lube all moving parts with WD40 and quick spray of the chain, whilst on the bike stand -10 mins
Cup of tea, biscuit & sit back and enjoy your achievement - 10 mins

All part of the fun, lets you get to know the bike better too

Security is the main thing. Washing it in my small garden doesnt really work as makes a real mess, wheares doing basic servicing there is fine. Which means washing it in the street....which is a fekkin advert to the scrotes n pikeys... Have had 2 bikes nicked in 3 years and dont want the hassle of another.

OK - bought a feeler gauge and been round the fork seals.

Was a bit like fingering a virgin; nice and tight, and twice over too !

Quite a bit of grit up there though.

So will see what happens next and see if any fluid runs down the legs and see of the legs stay nice and dry or end up moist...

I presume you mean you slid the dust seals out of the way first?

You can tell straight away if they're still leaking by pumping the forks and looking for oil residue

Yup; dust seals removed. Am a bit half cut now, so will have to save the pumping test for tomorrow.
