Forth Bridge Accident - GS First on Scene?

Looked like a fairly serious bike accident on the Forth Bridge this morning. Bike up on "central reservation" cage with rider lying on carriageway. Mandarin (orange) coloured GS appeared to be "first bike on scene". GS rider helping to give injured rider first aid.

Was it you and how was the injured rider?

I just spoke to my wife on the phone and she told me she'd seen this on her way over the bridge into Fife this morning. She said she'd heard reports that the rider is seriously injured.

Looking out the window it appears that now, at 10:30 am, the South-bound carriageway is still closed and the North-bound is congested and very slow.

I passed this on the way into Edinburgh this morning too. Police weren't on the scene yet and it was as Kaycee described. I noticed the GS parked up and saw the rider who crashed on the deck. Couldn't make out the type of bike lodged in the central part of the bridge. Really hope he makes it.

Definately not good news.

Puts life into perpective. Every morning I see the same bikes heading over the bridge, only giving a passing thought to the GS's and thinking "are they on the site". That rider left home this morning to start another week of work, probably saying "see you tonight love" to his family. Can't imagine how his friends and family are feeling. My thoughts are with them.

Not that it makes any odds but the bike was an "adventure" type, possibly Honda TansAlp/varadero.

When I went passed a police transit van was on site (think the police guys were on their way to a training event. No flouresent jackets, just black shirts and trousers).

the rider has been named....

A motorcyclist who was killed during a crash on the Forth Road Bridge has been named by police.

Alex Comrie, 48, from Rosyth was killed during the serious collision which happened at about 0800 BST on Monday.

Fife Constabulary said the crash involved a white van, blue car and a silver Honda motorbike

He was a work colleague of a friend of mine. By all accounts a good man and pretty level headed.

A sad loss and terrible waste.
