Well the time had come, the weather was good if not a little hot.
Garry suggested a spin on the Sunday, I thought that I could make it and so could Gaz and Pete.

The line up
Pete R80 gs monolever '81 model
Garry R100 gspd '91 model but heavily modified
Rob R1150 gs adventure
Gaz R1200 gs

Almost 25 years separate these bikes

This time we used a much more direct approach to get to Wales but had a couple of little tracks on the way, Garry will be along to post his piccies soon

once into Wales we got onto some more interesting tracks, here's Gaz getting to grips with the 12

I have to admit to not taking many photos but as mentioned Garry will fill in the gaps

Gaz had to get off early to catch a plane the next day at death o' clock and so that just left the 3 of us to do my favorite route

THE STRATA FLORIDA

5 or 6 miles of interesting riding

Garry in the water

my apologies to edgey for this time, we limit the numbers to 4 so as to keep the group a sensible size. But you are on my list of invites

Cheers

I haven't dared look at it since, couldn't see from Brussels anyway:rolleyes:

I'm off to the garage now, I see a large bill on the horizon :(

We didn't like to mention your troubles, but as you have !!!

let us know what the damage was, after all you only dropped it on it's side and that doesn't seem too much to cause a complete cylinder failure

I suppose that you are bringing the 350 next time

I think it was the 180 spin it did after it hit the floor that fecked whatever it is that is broken.
With hindsight, part of my troubles were down to having bugger all tread on the front Tourance. The other part were, of course, down to me being crap off road on the 12.:o

when I crashed mine it was all a bit upside down and it came down with a fair crash, but it started first hit

so why should the 12 just die after a low speed off ???

what you need is a bit more practice on the 350 and then fit some TKCs on the 12 and letssss gooooo

big bikes are so much fun :bounce1 :bounce1 :bounce1 :bounce1

still it was the newest and least reliable, bit of a worry that :blast

good luck

Rob

Oh I'm still dead keen, that won't stop me trying again, I just got a bit freaked out by the last fall because I felt the front go on the camber (some grass at 45 degrees) and couldn't stop it.

So I will practise more on the 350 and I will fit some TKCs and be back out on the 12.

As for reliability, scientifically speaking you would have all had to drop yours 4 times just like I did to see which one fared the worst :P
