I noticed this the other day when cleaning the ADV the paintwork on frame next to my left boot is wearing away at an amazing rate i.e the bike is not two weeks old yet and I can see silver paint under the black.

Anyone else got this?

What's the best stencil stick paint colour to go for?, any idea's :D

Mines fine after 3k of use thanks for asking :clap

Touratech make frame protectors to stop your boots rubbing into the frame
I only got them as last 12 I had my boots marked the frame :thumb

yes i have seen them touratech things but I am a little disgusted that the paintwork rubs off so quick my last GS12 had 19 K on the clock and had only just started to go.

If you get clear sticky back plastic (as blue peter said here's one i made earlier) after you've touched up the frame it will stop any wear hapening again and its also easy to fit and clean, :thumb done the same with my 1200gs.

Me too.

And the colour? The one that I bought at the dealer after I asked them for the official frame paint. Possibly a quid or two more than non-BMW stuff, but a good match.

It's a GS

What you bothered about !! it's a GS not a sports bike, they are meant to get scratched and battered. Of course you can always keep your left boot away from the frame, apply duck tape or by one of the many gizmos to protect the frame..................... Ride it off road, crash it a few times then you will be a real GSER :D :bounce1 :bounce1  :thumb :thumb

My old 12 went everywhere but to have paint coming off after effectly two road rides is pretty disgusting IMHO, the paintwork should be able to take a bit more than that. The silver paintwork definitely did.....
