Heading off on the Hull ferry on the 7th September heading for Zeebrugher. Then down to Troyes, Annecy, Gap with a stop off around Cannes before heading to Lake Garda and then my planning ran out of steam but hopefully heading back to Zeebrugher.

Any ideas, tips for places to see route back etc

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks

Get a copy of "Motorcycle Journey's Through the Alps and Beyond" for ideas :thumb2

Some good passes around Annecy, and you can pick up Route Des Grand Alpes for your run down to Cannes

Was out that way last year:-

Recieved the book 'Alps and Beyond' last week....... excellent book very interesting :clap

Just rode the col de la cayolle and col de la allos this week, fantastic roads, barcellonette worth a mention as a good place to stop also.

Just bought myself a copy of that book. And I've emailed myself a copy of that ride report, looks superb, just don't have time to digest it all at the moment.

Mind let us know how you get on, I'm planning a trip over there myself and need all the info and help I can get.

I did that run last month and had a brilliant time.

See my accommodation recommendations for Saint Andre des Alpes ( with suggestions for daily tours ) and the one for Aosta Valley.

All the passes I rode were excellent in differing ways depending on the riding/ scenery combinations. The ones I enjoyed most though, were the four around Andermatt, Switzerland - Oberalp, Furka, Grimsel and Susten. You might be using the Stelvio after L Garda, and that lived up to expectations too.

Along with Michelin maps, I used alpineroads.com extensively in my route planning, and found it a really useful site. They were rather dismissive about the N202 in the Alpes Maritime region, but I found parts of it as good as the best in Scotland and Wales. But then they are rather spoilt for choice.

Some of the best French passes were on the Route des Grandes Alpes.

Have you thought about stopping at Lake Como and making a visit to the Moto Guzzi museum? Would seem churlish to be that close and not see it :thumb

Some cracking bits of history there:
