Nice and sunny on Friday morning .. we wait for everyone to turn up at the Eurotunnel

Then I decided to go visit CHAMPAGNE .. or Reims [edit for spelling - GM] and EP..something :D

That Taittinger caves are suppose to be below an old cathedral but it was destroyed in the French revolution. Now it's just a posh looking building

BUT here is the original staircase to the church above.

Once again thanks to Tour Dad for arranging a nice weekend away in France .. where he seems to KNOW EVERY ENGLISH BIKE RIDER!!!

Peronne.

The Historial de la Grande Guerre is an excellent trilingual museum, that traces the history of the first world war. It is situated in an imposing fortification which was severly damaged during the First World War and was liberated by the Australians on 2 September 1918.

Of course images like this are all tourist 'cons'.

Champagne production across the region is something like 10 bottles every second (to keep up with world demand for around 300m bottles each year).

I'd expect to see a little move 'process' happening than these images show. I'm sure they carefully cultivate this images for tourists but I'll bet that there are fecking great factories hidden away churning out the bubbles by the lorry-load!
