Hi Guys and girls, just a heads up on a course i run up at mossley fire station. I normally run it on a Sunday afternoon and it takes around 3 hours.

Biker Down - aimed at motorcyclists of all ages and experience, the free scheme offers the chance to learn practical skills to help avoid being involved in a crash, as well as essential first-aid training and advice on what to do should they find themselves first on the scene of a crash where someone is injured the aim is to help reduce biker injuries and fatalities.

The scheme is delivered, free of charge, to participants at local fire stations in small informal groups. The course is made up of three modules, including accident scene management, motorcycle specific first-aid training i.e. CPR, managing major bleeds and helmet removal and classroom-based tuition on the science of being seen.

Brilliant scheme, shame it isn't National (I can't find any mention of it in West Yorks?)
Is it linked in with Police, Ambulance and A & E ? Or solely the Fire Service ?

Paul, I think this is brilliant what you're doing mate! :thumb

Big pat on the back for ya!!

Davey, check out biker down uk mate as it lists all areas covered. mostly run by the fire service but a few police forces are taking it on board now. We won the prince michel of kent road saftey award this year for the course. we also get great feed back off people that have attended. where in west yorkshire are you.??

I had south yorkshire fire and yorkshire ambulance on my last course as they want to roll it out soon.

I've sent you an email: I've spent a lot of time with crashers this year and I hope to to be able to help them out should it become necessary. ;)

Sandman. Pillions are more than welcome mate. I am down to 4 places left so dont leave it to long if you want a place. I run a course about every 8 weeks if the date is no good for you.

Trust you stevie... mouth to mouth is old hat mate. unless you like hep b, TB and the like... there is always one or two young ladies but i have to be proffesional at all times steve. I can only fit 15 on a course at a time but run one every 8 weeks. you also get a little certificate for your toilet door!!

A big thank you to Paul for giving up his time to share his knowledge. I now have the confidence to approach an incident should the need arise.

It was a worthwhile trip to attend this course. It has inspired me to do more so that the next time I'm around when a rider hits the ejector seat button I maybe able to do something useful.

Many thanks to Fireman and hope to see you again soon (ABW on Wed's for pies and flapjacks?). :thumb
