Free, safe parking for van needed

I'm taking the Chunnel in June and am thinking of taking the bike in the van as far as Folkestone area and riding from there. Reason is I live in Devon and I'm having to do a job in the morning of the departure day in Bath, so don't really want to drive all the way home, get the bike and come all the way back again.
Idea is to leave the van somewhere safe and for free, ride to the Alps and back, load up and drive home.
Does anyone know of somewhere suitable to leave the van that isn't going to piss people off, about 30 mins or so from the port?
