I have been a good boy at work and have been given the gift of my choice.

So not needing to worry too much about the best value, which is the best one out there for general use?

Guess it depends.............

If for bike use Garmin Zumo 550
If for car use Garmin Zumo 550
If for walking along country lanes Garmin Zumo 550

Hope that this helps:toungincheek:toungincheek

How much have you been given ?

It could be either a Nuvi 550 , wait for a new Zumo 660 or pick up a Zumo 550 or go to Halfords who had Zumo 400 as exclusive.

Suggest you do before April 12th as price increases kick in :augie

+1 on the Nuvi 550.

As good as the Zumo 550,half the bulk, same screen size, half the price for those paying.

No stupid woman shouting in your ear and no MP3 player to distract you !!

Shame it won't fit the BMW mount on my forthcoming K13S !!

Depends on which BMW mount ? if it has four hole AMPS fix then GA32 cradle across two diagonal holes, is worth a try.

If its the BMW mount that fits on the tank, then adapt and add RAM-B-309-3 ball post, seen it done on F800S with member of GS parish.

Flip BMW logo bezel and add custom part from Dr Bob aka www.telferizer.com or if thread suits RAM-B-360 twist n tilt mount

On clutch clamp bracket, two cap head screws, look at RAM-B-231Z cast bracket with longer cap heads

I've £500 to play with, I know the the 550 has the bells and whistles, I already have a TomTom rider, will I find any benefit from changing?
I left the original question open to see if anyone would recommend a TomTom, which they didn't:rolleyes:

Do I just ask for a sargeant seat, and a set of crash bars for Gails bike:nenau

I have to decide before they change ther minds:augie

Well if you have £500 to dispose of it would have to be the Zumo 660, but if I was on a budget I defo get the Nuvi 550 :thumb

Thanks for that great info.

Yes,I'm going with the tank mount like this :

<img src="http://img.skitch.com/20090402-egx5bq8skhgke273rkkstajmad.jpg" alt="L1000982"/>

I wanted to use my new Nuvi 550 but have resigned myself to use my old 2610 until the Zumo 660 is readily available and comes down a bit in price.

So I've ordered the BMW cradle from GPSW to fit the 2610 like this :

But if that guy with the F800S sees this perhaps he'll add a photo showing how he modified the tank mount,as I would like to use the Nuvi

I've also ordered a spare battery cover for the K13S so I will just swap them over when on the to save leaving the mount base plate and power cable visible :

Thanks for the tip about Telferizer-I've had one of Bob's ram bolts for a while as I used it on my Superduke and CB13.

No probs, was jesting

Took me a few moments to realise they were mine, was thinking they look familiar:confused:

Thanks for the info. Could be worse I suppose, but you'll realise when you see yours that its just a bit of black plastic moulding. I've seen more expensive looking food packaging........ they know how to sting us don't they

Thanks again

Simon
