French balcony roads

Dare I say, looked a bit on the rough side in parts as I rode through 2 years ago.
Seemed to be an increase in "migrants" from the last time I was there. Generally still a nice place.

the Little Italy area I remember from my visit in the 1990s, opposite side of the river to the main city centre, below the cliff where the Bastille sits, Quai Perriere, seems rather seedier than I remember. A number of boarded up shops and lots of graffiti when I revisited not long ago.
Grenoble has had an Arab Quarter for centuries due to France's colonial past. Some of the best food I have eaten in France has been influenced by N.Africa, Lebanon and Vietnam. No doubt the various conflicts in those former colonies have led to many more people claim familial links to legally claim asylum.

I think you would manage just fine. (y)

I did it twenty years ago on an ST1100 Pan European with my missus on the back.

That was why I bought my first GS - I wanted to continue to the other side of the valley but my courage failed me when the tarmac stopped.

These days I'm not sure if I could do it. :D:D:D
Yep it would be all fine until the tarmac ran out - solo and not loaded up no problem, but Karen has a tendency to wiggle about looking at the views in the mountains!
