Bike hire in france

Firms do exist here BUT of course are expensive - but perhaps less than hiring a bike in the UK and bringing it over; There is a "Salon de deux roues" shortly in Lyon (Motorcycle Show) and i can investigate if anybody is interested.

I think he will be happy paying about £250 for a bike for the weekend, which is what it costs in the UK, also means we can all set off together.

Considering he will shag a set of tyres, take the pads to the metal and grind out pegs / cylinder heads / crash bars it is pretty good value.

The weather is always a lottery, just the odds of you getting shite weather are higher in some places than others, a mate had a track day rained off at Almeria - one of the driest places in Europe, and I once went to Manchester and found it dry and sunny.

I managed to tour Scotland during the wettest July week on record, six of us had a great time, but it sure would have been even better if we had dry roads for more than about 25% of the time.

Ardennes is most likely, I will check out the Hotels mentioned and probably work with the routes kindly supplied by Wapping.

It would be interesting comparative weather stats for Picos and Ardennes. In my experience, there is no better chance of warm and dry weather in the Picos. That north coast of Spain is very wet. Chuck in the altitude of the mountains, and I reckon it is a veritable cloud magnet!

I'd have to be very good friends with someone to sacrifice four or more days riding in the Ardennes for a couple of days in the picos and a couple of days trapped on a boat.
