Hello has does anybody know how to fit a spare auxillary socket to the front lhs of the mudguard / tank.
Is the wiring there already, will the sws recognize fitment
Thanks

You can buy a kit from your delaer, for about 30 pounds.

A cable is supplied to connect the new socket to the same supply as the exiting socket, which means both sockets will be controlled by the same circuit. This does however mean that the TOTAL current drawn from both sockets can not exceed the limit for the original socket (5 amps I think).

Fitting the kit involves cutting a hole in the front panel, and routing the wiring. You need to strip the bike down quite a lot, including taking off the tank, but it's not too complicated - just quite time consuming.

I bought a commercial socket for about A$6 (as no genuine available in Oz) and the dealer installed it while he was installing my Autocom unit.

It is wired direct to the battery, not through the original aux socket, as I wanted to be able to run my camping light from it.

I believe it needs a supressor (?) - I'm not technically minded - as the engine electrical noise overrides my iPod music if I charge it through the socket while listening .

I don't think he actually took the tank off, just run the wires underneath the two panels, down to the battery.
