Hiya guys, anyone split the callipers in half when servicing them?I can't see any other way of getting those pistons out otherwise.merry xmas

Assuming you have removed them from the bike, you could use an air line into the bleed nipple hole. If no air line, then you may have to reconnect to the bike's hydraulics, bleed the calipers and then eject the pistons by squeezing the brake lever. Try to stop one piston popping-out altogether if any other is stuck (a piece of wood in the caliper should work) otherwise you'll have to re-fit the ejected piston and start again! :blast

Cheers buddy.I tried this yesterday, what a pullaver, pistons poppin out all over the place:(which is why I questioned about seperating them.I once done this on a gsxr750 caliper but not on a 1100gs

I don't know if new seals to go between the caliper halves are available easily, so that's why I try not to split them.

OK guys has usual I've ploughed head first into this and ended up bikeless for the week:(.I've seperated both callipers, rebuilt one of them and then its gone tits up,seized piston.tried air pressure, oil pressure and a big fook off hammer.the pistons mangled but it still won't budge.anyone with a spare caliper?
