Whats the concensus on fork staunchion protectors, how vulnerable are the upper and lower fork tubes and the blue coating. Touratech do some neoprene covers anyone used them.
The lower forks will start to show evidence of stone chip damage so I bought a pair of neoprene Lizard Skins from Halfords, they are designed for cycles but a few mins with a pair of scissors and you can soon get them to fit around the brake calipers and onto the forks.
I've done a similar job as his Lordship as I had both sliders replaced under warranty due to the salt damage to the finish last winter. I got a pair of carbon fibre covers - v. tough & v. lightweight.

They are designed to cover the upper part of usd moto-x forks but the 52mm size fits the GS perfectly. I have put some 3mm neoprene sheet, cut to size, behind the cover as this prevents any chaffing. They also look great.
Order by phone and specify the size as you can't choose them by size online.
