Has anyone heard of a way to replace the standard mudguard on the F800gs for a higher one? Very much like they do on the dakar rally with the KTM 690 Rally, sometimes with a mudguard close to the wheel and sometimes with a high mudguard.

I would like to see how it look like, maybe the peak would have to come off?

Thanks!

The only solution iv’e seen is the touratech mudguard height increase thingy, but it only lifts it by an inch or so. And for a hundred quid

I was considering cutting my stock guard to remove most of it but retaining the fork guards and section for the brake lines. Would that work for you?

I would like to have the option to switch between a high guard and the standard one. I think the problem is the brake line that goes just over the standard guard, it's only a couple of inches above the wheel. If I removed the standard guard then that line would start to get hammered with stuff that gets thrown by the wheel.
Would it be possible to re route that line higher up?

Thanks!

I briefly looked into this. Researching the KTM high front guards, they usually provide a kit that gives you a second brake line, so you run 2 lines, one down each fork leg. I think this would be the way to go for eliminating the guard all together, however Im not sure which fork guards might fit the forks as they are integrated with the mudguard at the moment (hence I thought chopping the stock guard might be a solution).

I'm quite surprised at the mental setup of the front brake lines. Why use 5 lines fer feck's sake?

When I was racing, the rule was two lines from master cylinder to each caliper. That way, anything getting spun up by the front wheel couldn't sever a line.

Anyone got a rational explanation?
