I had intended to change my chain and sprockets before I set off to France next weekend. I had all the parts ready and split the old CZ chain and binned it. (11000 miles and had become very noisy at 10 -20 mph). I thought the engine sprocket would just slide off but mine seems glued on to the splines.
I tried pulling it off with a three leg extractor but only managed to bend the
M16 puller screw, luckily it did not damage the sprocket teeth. I have had to put my shiny new DID x ring chain onto the old sprocket. Any ideas how to get it off.

Thanks sijohnston, how much heat are you talking, damp hot rag or a blowlamp, Im a little concerned about the gearbox seal behind the sprocket. I dare not put much more force on the sprocket because if it stuck damaged it could ruin my holiday plans.

Hi

I had mine seized on too, the dealer said it was cos the bike was used offroad- I really couldnt be bother pursuing that one, but on road or off road the ruddy thing spins so really dont see how dirt get inside and siezes..... anyway, the factory must have run out of high temp anti sieze paste, - mine had to have the swingarm out so the bearing seals could be protected- then the old sprocket was taken up to cherry red before it popped off YMMV

good luck:eek:
