I have an r1100gs 1998.on my last trip to scotland the front wheel started squeeking from 20mph and faster,it is quite loud and you can hear it over the sound of the bike.it is constant and gets very hard to listen to after some miles.has anyone had the same?I was thinking it was maybe the speedo cable or drive and was thinking of gravity feeing oil down the cable over night to see if this sorts it out.on the last trip it got that hard to listen to i stopped at a shop and got wd40 and when i put a drop round each side of the wheel it stopped but only for about 10 miles until it dried out.

many thanks

Grease. Sounds like you need to stuff more grease around the front wheel bearings / axle thingy. WD40 really isn't a lubricant.

I would check those wheel bearings too, if you want to lube the speedo cable just unscrew the bottom end of the cable and pull out the inner, clean grease and refit.
