Over 120km on sand on the HP2 the front wheel starts wandering right and left.. to the extent you have to slow down or will go out of control.

This was not the case previously..

Any idea what could be the reason?

Thanks.

Headstock bearings and forks are both suspect on HPs... Have you checked those for play?

I've checked pulling and pushing the forks in a pendulum motion, they are solid.

How would you know if the bearings and/or forks are at fault?

Would you hear or feel harshness? Cause all seems normal to me..:nenau

wandering at the front is usually coming from the rear and vice-versa

tyre choices

When i travelled in the out back on two separate occasions i had heeps of this wandering going on on dirt and blacktop.
On an 1150 gs i had a 19inch rear mx tyre as it was at the time the only knobby that was available to buy for gs to fit on the front.
The front went all over the place, answer is to gas it and get agressive, the bike knew the way, i just held the bars but not too tight and i got used to it, i had no choice.......By the way it was a metzler m6 i think.

The other time was on my 640ktm adv, i had a desert front and rear and same thing after about 80 kph on black top but more bearable when i hit dirt, i suppose the story is, if u are riding dirt no probs but if your on the road, karoo front and rear are awesome but wear quick, however a karoo front with a longer wearing tyre on back will sort out the road and dirt ....
