I am currently adding Castrol fuel additive to my unleaded fuel on my Laverda Jota, I have seen for sale "fuel catalysts" which you place in your tank and forget about, no more adding addative everytime you fill up.

Has anyone any experience of these fuel catalysts? seems a good idea but dont want to wreck my engine!

They're great....wanna buy some Snake Oil too?:D
 
waste of time keep putting the additive peace of mind we have a garage near who sells leaded fuel £2.50 per litre ouch

Your choice I think it's expensive for what it is!

And after trying to grind a set of valves in over the weekend from a 78,000 mile pre unleaded bike (I did change exh valves Yes) I can see there ain't gonna be any recession in those bad boys! Talk about bloody hard material!
 
Jaythro, agreed that web site is expensive:eek:, have seen numerouus companys selling same/similar around the £20 mark which i think is acceptable, doesnt look like many people have tried it though so looks like i will continue to use the additive.

That's correct you forget about it - you forget about it until the metal cage that hold the "catalyst" and rattles around inside the fuel tank has taken all the paint off the inside of your tank and the carbs get full of shite.

FFS. Save your money.
 
I've tried them............

I have tried these (Fuelcat) in a few older brit bikes. I did have a problem with valve seat recession in a Velocette Venom, but easily fixed with a new exhaust valve seat, otherwise all have been fine.

My first experience of these came when someone offered me one cheap to try. I had recently bought a 1938 Norton 16H which was nipping up whenever I rode it more than 10 miles. I tried a few things without success, and in desperation I tried throwing one of these in the tank. The bike has done 20 thousand miles since then, and hasn't nipped up at all.

Some say these are just snake oil, but I know this has made a change in my old 16H (something to do with changing the characteristics of the burn?).

Wort a try for my two pennorth!
