The fuel gauge on my 1150GS has suddenly started to act strangely.

When going downhill the number of bars showing increases, go up hill and they decrease. It is obviously linked to the petrol flushing around in the tank.

I am guessing that this gauge should be 'damped' in some way, and this is failing. Is there an external solenoid contolling this function or will I have to check the unit in the tank?

Many thanks in advance for any help

Mike

There is a module called the "dial needle damping" which lives in the fuse box.

Could be duff.

Try unplugging it and plugging it in again, (just pulls out like a normal relay) just incase there is some corrosion build up on the contacts.

Failing that, try to live with it.

Cheers Ian

I'd spotted that, but assumed it referred to the speedo/rev counter.

I'll give it a try though....you never know.
