Fuel gauge reading zero

Hi all,

did anybody have problems with fuel gauge reading zero at all time.

Filled up my 2007 gs and level is reading zero. Tank is now 1/2full still the same.

Arranged service tomorrow but would like to know more before it.

Hi John,

no level was on 2 last lines and I just filled up as I was getting ready for a ride. Level always takes a while to show difference after filling and I tought it was same as before. But it just reads zero.

Sounds to me like the float is either stuck or not floating.

http://www.r1200gs.info/R1200GS-WD2.pdf is one wiring diagram that may not be totally correct for your bike shows to me on page 7 that the fuel level sensor goes straight to the ZFE control module. So it should be easy to sort out, hopefully!

Slightly different problem

I have got a slightly different problem with my fuel gauge. Mine (when full) will intermittently drop to showing 1/2 full. This will last for 5 to 10 minutes and then the display returns to full again. Mine is a 2005 bike and has only recently starting doing this. Don't know whether it is a sensor or a wiring fault, but as it is intermittent, can't see it being easy to find.

Been in service yesterday.
The Fuel Level Sensor is gone and new should be here in couple of days.
