Fuel level sensor no longer available

Fuel sensor

I have 2010 12ADV New Engine, Fuel sensor went under warranty no issue Chester Motorad was great, then used one tank of fuel and again faulty fuel gauge so took back to Chester Bike out of Warranty by about 2months, Told part not covered as bike out of Warranty although BMW may cough up for part but Labour £114!!!

Very comon issue mine stuck on full so no warning light this but still should be able to use.....If they have come up with new design doesn't work!!!

Bit p***** off, but Yamaha looking very tempting now, any ideas!!!

Don´t you have 3 years warranty in the UK? Take the bike for service in Germany, and BMW will pick up the bill. I had mine serviced in Munich two weeks ago. The day before, the neutral switch died. BMW took the part and labour, without me even asking. The bike has Norwegian plates and was 3 years in May.

In Norway, we have some consumer friendly laws. If you buy something expensive that obviously is meant to have a long life expectancy, you have a right to have things fixed for five years. Even if the warranty is two or three years, and you cannot sign off these rights. This goes for washing machines, TVs, as well as cars and bikes. So if a part that is not subject to wear and tear breaks for no reason, they really do not have a choice but to take the cost. As long as you have done the services at the dealer.

That said, many companies will still make it a hassle. In my experience, BMW is very reasonable and forthcoming. They have given me free parts and labour on cars and bikes more than three years old in Norway, USA, and now Germany, never any hassle or quarreling.

Or, get the part from them for free and install it yourself?

Ok another update

I phoned the dealer this morning saying what had been said on this forum and he went and checked and said loads in stock, not on hold and mine should be with them tomorrow depending on fog at the airport lol.

It's probably broken in the packet! :blast

I got talking to a German while in Scotland in May, and he told me his GS had blown 9 :eek

...... so it's not like they just send the shite here!

Anyone who actually hands money over for this ticking bomb is both mad & destined for disapointment.
