fuel pipes-how long do they last?

Replaced the fuel filter on my 1999 1150GS today.
It has only done 25000 miles but as it is 8 years old I was wondering if I should have replaced the internal and external fuel pipes also. Can't see anything in the Haynes manual re when to replace them although they looked ok with no sign of perishing. Any thoughts?
ps whoever designed crimp style fuel clips should be shot.They are a b****r to remove especially the overflow ones inside the tank. Used a small set of bolt crops eventually to get them off.

there is no need whatsoever to remove those just to change the fuel filter.

The fuelpump unit comes out enough to replace the filter without undoing any other hoses.

Thanks Neil but not enough slack in the overflow pipes to get access to the filter unless you can post a pic/describe how it's done

Getting back to my other point,any idea how long these internal fuel pipes will last before replacement is required? I had a problem on my R100GS with the internals of the fuel pipes perishing after 7 years

Mine (1100) packed up on me once over; started popping and farting for ten mins, then just wouldn't run at all. Got it recovered to Allan Jefferies, who discovered a hairline split in one of the external pipes. Put a new one on, no probs since. That was three years ago I think, so it would have done about fifty thousand then.
