Just tucking into my new to me 2002 1150gs full service.
Kicked myself when I tried too hard and sheared my left valve cover guard fastner, the one next to exhaust. Cos it's close to exhaust I can't quiet drill it out, sheared flush and rusted hard, not budging, makes me think the valve cover has never been open.
Is there any issues if I just leaving it and only use two fastners on valve cover guard?
I plan to strip down and soda blast whole engine next summer, so would it be ok till then?

Second issue is more pressing. My bike is 15 years old but only 36000 km. There are new fuel hoses on the bike so figured all was good and ordered fuel filter. However today I pulled off tank and when I popped the plate I saw original filter, original pump and original drain and breather (internal) hoses. Hoses are cracked and crumbling, any link to replace? But main issue is the pump. It sounds fine, have no issues but it's 15 years old. Should I put bike back together and enjoy for next year or should I keep everything stripped down and order pump and wait the week for delivery ( live in Dubai)

Any links to changing inner hoses.

Appreciate your experience on this fellas.

The U-shape internal pipe is probably best bought from BMW. The rest of the pipes can be purchased anywhere, but it needs to be of a type that's happy to be submersible in fuel.

Change the filter of course, but if the pumps not making any strange noises I would leave it be.

The clamps that connect the fuel lines internally can be reused or new ones fitted. It helps to have the removal/fitting pliers. Alternatively, I just used some nice stainless steel 'jubilee' type clamps.

If all the pump plate flange nuts came off easy it's well worth refitting with some copper grease as they are prone to sheer off.
I bought a new large o-ring rubber gasket, but TBH you could let the original shrink back to size and refit. That shouldn't take long in the Dubai sun :thumb

My 1150 is the same age as yours and running with the original pump just fine.
