I have just replaced the fuel pump in the tank because the bike would not start.
It was the problem,
Now I had it running and it stopped,
I have checked the hall sensors and they work, But now it wont start and with the plugs removed they spark when they want and the fuel pump runs as well

What the heck is goin on

Any ideas

My brother has made the testing box for the sensors and the leds light saying they work.

My problem is I think they are working overtime without the motor turning

If I turn the ign on it primes normally the after a few seconds the fuel pump runs again and the plugs spark without rotating the engine at all

I am going to disconnect all the plugs and re connect tomorrow and see if anything changes
I shall keep you posted

If not It is a new backplate and sensors, Another 90 euros, This bike is a big money pit

Sounds more like a an electrical short/wiring problem somewhere than faulty sensors have you checked the wiring around the headstock? cleaned the multiplug for the fuel pump.

well I have unpluged and re pluged
It started but when I reved it it backfired like I have never herd

So Where do I go from here

I am going to fill the tank up with fresh petrol and see if it starts and runs better

What do you think to the backfiring.

David

The hall sensors are the ignition and injection triggers

The sparking on their own would indicate to me that the wiring or the Hall sensors are fubarred

Just don;t have the ignition on while you are changing to a known good plug!!!

Don't Ask me How I Know!

yes I had the ignition on whilst putting the plug in the lead to see if it sparked.
And OHHH yes it sparked on it's own and continued for a second or two

I turned it off and put the plug back in and turned it over and it started
But it backfired so much I stopped it

Could it still be a problem with the hall sensors or something else I need to look for

It is the backfiring that is bothering me.

David

Just to clarify are you saying the plugs are firing sparking without the engine running? but ignition on?

Yes ignition was on, One plug out so I could see if it sparked when I turned it over.

I put the plug in the lead I FORGOT THE IGNITION WAS ON and got a good belt when it touched the engine.

The fuel pump cycled and the plug sparked without the engine turning over

Not fitted any electrical accessories recently or messed with the wiring for any other reason?

No just what I have posted.

I have just started it up again and I would say it is running on one cyl
as it is vibrateing a lot
I am off to buy petrol then i will take the plugs out and clean them

Okay who has the throttle cable Pic???

Some one show it to big homer

See before you drive anywhere check throttle bodies to see that the cables are properly seated

You could have the throttle open on one side making it tioo weak and this can also give you a backfire!

Found the problem.
My bike Is EX Gendarmarie French.

The coil and plug leads are not the normal type of push in, Mine screw in and one was faulty

The fault was the anti interferance on the lead, I got a new one and it runs OK at the moment.

The other problem was the OIL cooler Radiator fan was shorting and was not coming on at the correct temperature and was causing another fault I was unaware of, It cuts the engine and prevents overheating

Thanks for all the help

It's an ex police bike, with non standard HT leads etc etc

Might have helped posting this information in the very first post instead of letting everyone have a guess :blast

Well untill you open somethig up it is hard to know if it is standard or an adaptation
If you dont have both models in front of you at the same time.

Hindsight is a wonderfull thing

Sorry if it has confused anyone other than myself

But it runs
