Running low on fuel on my 08 12GSA, I'm not sure how accurate the petrol gauge is on the bike, but I've noticed it shows remaining fuel steadily decreasing until about 70-80 miles left where it sticks for a while then starts to drop again, when it hits 50 miles remaining it starts to drop rapidly until around 20-30 miles. With 25 miles remaining showing going around a right hander at about 70 mph with probably 50 degree lean the bike stuttered a couple of times, the road (and therefore the bike) straightened and nothing else happened, I carried on for approx 3 miles before filling up with almost 32 litres of fuel, having done 295 miles on a full tank.

I'm not complaining about the fuel levels (no bike (or car) is perfect in this respect) but I was wondering if anyone else has had a 'stutter' while riding in a low fuel (but not empty) situation. And how is the fuel scavenged from the GSA tank??

I think it uses the fuel pump to jet pump the fuel into the feed side of the tank. I've also noticed the pausing at 80 miles to go, but have never had any stuttering of the engine, even when I put in over 33 litres.

Ahhh for a moment there I thought this thread was about the current fuel situation up here in Scotland!! It's like Mad Max 2 up here with bands of mutant bikers surrounding the last few petrol stations trying to get in!!!

But don't tell them the tankers filled with sand.......

I've ridden 5 miles past zero on my GS (it stays on zero in case you've ever wondered) without any hesitation from the engine. The only time I've had hesitation with low gas was on an 1150 with blocked fuel filter

I've filled up with over 35ltr on the GSA, so you had a good 3ltrs left at least, which should be easy to pick up. Never noticed fuel starvation near to the limit.
