Fuel tank removal

Tank off

If you mechanically minded it easy ,strip all panels off then undo both lower tank bolt /plate supports behind panels about knee height and then undo both fuel feed and return on top of tank LHS push fit connectors ,pull both breather pipes off of tank fill point and stuff a rag in the fill point as you'll have removed the fill cap from the tank, and then lift tank and pull Back at same time tanks off ,not recommended with more than half a tank of fuel its kin heavy,be carefull when putting it back on not to trap any wires or cables ,good luck its piece of cake :thumb

Are their any guides on here to emoting the tank ?

I have Used the search button, honest.

Oh go on then, curiosity gets the better of me.
Why do you want to remove the tank? and I assume it is a 1200, no mention on your details.
And, it might help with the quality of the advice if you are able to give us a clue as to the end game.

It's a standard GS which I am selling.
I need to remove the relay from the ecu for the BMW LED fog lights I had fitted.

Thanks for the help

And removing the seat and tank panels doesn`t get you to this point?
I suspect a photo from you is in order!

Slightly OT but the adv tank is a booger to put back if it's got a reasonable amount of petrol in. One rear bolt does up fine but the other is a major pain in the bits. Make sure tank is near empty and life is much easier.
