Hi, Iv've just taken delivery of a 30 year anniversary GSA, having traded in an '08 GS which I could not fault.
Has anyone had problems with poor fueling?
At 3000 revs in 4th, 5th, or 6th it doesn't know whether it's comming or going, and seems to switch between a drumming/surging/searchng sensation, this clears approaching 4000 revs and all is fine.
I haven't spoken to the dealer yet as I picked the bike up and set off for the day and didn't get back until late.
Just wondered if anyone can throw any light on the situation.

No consolation but my new GS1200 is fine and the fueling appears spot on throughout the rev range.

Wonder if it could be something to do with exhaust flap which operates to reduce noise at a certain rev range where it is tested. Maybe it is stuck or set up wrongly.

I have heard that the flap can be disconnected with no harmful effect but I'll wait until I hear from someone who has really done it befoer I try it.

Used to be done on buells with slight increase in noise,no real power gains

First off its a new bike with very little miles on it so is probably a bit tight and wont be running right. So either get some miles on it and see if it improves or:
Second, its a new bike, get the dealer to sort it out. Don't go disconnecting valves or anything like that. You have paid a lot of money for a bike so let the dealers do their job and sort it out.

New GSA

Thanks everybody for the replies.

Just got back from a ride and I've decided the problem only occurs when the throttle is held steady at low revs, she runs fine whilst accelerating but gets all lumpy on a constant throttle. Going back to main dealers tommorrow!

Traded in an 08 GS which had perfect fueling from day one so we'll see what they say.

Keep you informed.
