Youo may file this thread into the "utterly ridiculous" catagory once I've turned my back :D

My better half is getting her GS1200 on Saturday. Brand spanking new. I'm pretty sure she's so excited there's a little trail of wee constantly fllowing from her.

I'm not a rider, I'm a faithful and trusty pillion. She has been without a bike for over 12 months after her much loved Triumph Tiger was stolen by a pack of wan*ers! Now that Triumph have gone and COMPLETELY ruined the design of the Tiger, she bit the bullet and went for the GS dream. I think she's still finding it hard to believe. She's going to have to be sedated if this keeps up.

So, on to the stupid question. Is there anything I need to know about being a pillion on a GS? Has anyone reported any differences between the GS and other bikes? I'm only used to the Triumph and will approach being a pillion in the same way but thought I would ask, just in case.

Being a pillion on a GS will be a lot more comfortable in many ways, not the least of which will be the lack of dive under braking due to the telever front end. This should result in you head butting the rider less often ;)

On the other hand this is not a true touring bike so you may find some buffeting (although I can't imagine it's considerably worse than the Tiger). It is also very tall so. especially if there is a top box fitted, you may have to practice some mount / dismount processes if you don't want to end up in a heap :blast

I'm pretty sure your Tiger pillion experience will stand (or sit) you in good stead for GS co-piloting.
