G Mail / Windows Mail & Vista

Hi, have to say I'm normally fine with this sort of thing but I give up trying to sort it out!

New desktop running Vista, set up G Mail using POP3 same as on other non-vista PCs, even checked the set up on gmail help & disabled the norton a/v. Still can't get it to download, connection to the server fails. Socket error 10060. Error number 0x800cccoe

Any ideas please?

Hi, yes i've got the SSL options both selected for incoming & outgoing.........

have had a similar problem, when trying to set up bt broadband I got intouch with the Help dept at Bt, the Technician went through everything but then concluded that my "copy" augie) of Office 2003 was missing a "Service Pack" which can be downloaded from the Microsoft website.

Pah, cracked it! my bloody firewall in the router had somehow turned itself on............thanks for the tips though
