G450X - Any had more than 70 hrs use yet?

As I have said sooo many times thats RRP, they will not sell any at that price (You can get a R6 for 7K!!) and the price out the door will be much less.

Or if they stick to it, KTM (Already Bankrupt) will die.

You said 'KTM simply cannot put the prices up (at shop floor level)'. They did.

Discount or no discount, the starting point of the negotiations is now +£685.

This was always going to happen this year because of the £/€ rate. BMW may have to follow suit.

I put in brackets 'at shop floor level' meaning that KTMs RRPs could be 20K per bike, but Dealers can still only sell them at what people are willing to buy them at during the current climate. I think there is a mental cut off point, somwhere between 5.5K and 6K that people think 'I'm not spending more than that on a dirt bike'.

The Euro Exchange Rate is actually better than it was last year (currently around 1.15) when they put up the prices citing the exchange rate as an excuse. Then it was ~ 1.03.

Its simple economics, people will simply switch brands to the Husqvarnas, Huseberg BMWs, Honda, Yamahas, Kawasakis etc etc. KTM do not make a unique product!!

KTM as a company are really struggling at the moment, technically bankrupt, bailed out by the Austrian government, shortened working week, reduced production due to lack of demand, trying to woo an Indian Company to buy them out, pulled out of Dakar, looks like they are pulling out of MX/SX in 2010 too.

The only way to get yourself out of that kind of scenario is to sell more bikes. Exactly the same as the car industry, however there is not going to be a dirtbike scrappage scheme to help them out!!

Don't know, I can't see it.... it's covered in fecking stickers.......:ymca
And as you know JB, I've never been a fan of KTMs, why? probably because of the other owners, the way they behave..... and the shite that they talk. And I've ridden with quite a few over the years......

And looking at it again, I'd rather have my DRZ400E.

Timpo.

Aye...................very true:thumb

Trail bikes for trail riding and Enduro bikes for racing

You should buy one then, several KTM Dealers are knocking them out the door for 5K OTR if you ring round, as the 2010 Models are on the way.

Why do you hate the G450X so much though (and never owned one). I have noticed you knock them at every opportunity?

Nope, not my bag KTM's.............however pretty and capable

No particular reason..................just another BMW 'white elephant' and they've had plenty of those over the years

I too own a BMW 'white elephant' the G650X - however although it never caught on - it's a cracking trail bike or dualsport

Bit like the rest of the world's motor trade being bailed out then:rolleyes:

KTM are not unique to be struggling a bit in the world economic climate

If you don't like the KTM prices, don't buy one...............I doubt they need your particular custom anyway:blast

A drz400E = a harcore endurobike
A drz400S = a dualsport trailbike

Dutch enduro was won in 2007(i believe) with a drz400E.

Then why arent there more drz E in the enduro..because the reg. say max 450cc and the other brands have 450 = more power.....

I owned a drz400s wich was pimped to a drz440E, but i like the engine put out of the g450x better, but as i said before it took time for my to learn the g450x, its a bit different. but onced that known( 4-5 hours) i have great fun with it.

but
this thread is about 70 hours inspection not about second hand ktm husa husq etc......

Haha don't worry there is no risk of that. The trouble is that I think most of the other potential dirt bike purchasing public won't like the KTM prices either.

Now, isn't that a better package than a 450X - pretty too

Looks superb:thumb

The 450 EXCR was a nice bike........ but this one is miles better

Look at it and weep guys as your BMW's don't even come near it !!

I honestly can't see BMW putting the price of the G450X up as that will totally kill the bikes sales.

They are already struggling to sell them, The dealers have loads of them that they cant shift due to all the bad press the bike got.

Shame really as I did like mine, the reason why I sold it so quick was the fear that the dealers would swamp the market with low priced bikes.

That hasn't happened yet as they wouldn't sell them !!

Simple Economics, for all companies at the moment.

The only thing we are weeping about is the sheer amount of 'Sainsbury' Orange that has suddenly appeared on this forum!!

I think you really have been Drinking too much Orange 'Kool-Aid' as the Americans say...(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_the_Kool-Aid)

I think you'll be weeping when the thin paint has worn through on the KTMs Chromoly Steel Frame and the rust sets in! Won't be long! (Unless you don't actually ride the thing and just polish it ;))

Brompton your trolling is getting on my fecking nerves now...... feck off into the Katoom section and drivvle your shite there......

And as for coming near to it..... I'd fecking pass you on my DRZ, that's a 2004 'E' model for the record. That is if you ever get your sacks of bolts dirty.....:nenau
But at least I'd get a go of another KTM, as I ride most others that come on my trail rides...... know what I mean.

Any chance this thread can be closed now.............

Timpo.

Can we get back on topic on this thread and stop drivelling on about Sainsbury coloured machines and resale values.

At oil change, how are your drain plug magnets looking?........

:hide
I'm not sure i want to hear the answers.....:eek

Timpo.

I would just keep plenty of good quality oil going through the motor with regular filter changes and forget about the 70 hrs shakedown.

I certainly wasn't going to do mine... bank the cash for a rainy day.
