G450X - Any had more than 70 hrs use yet?

any one?
And what is the reason for this full service/replacement, is it just for warrenty or is it nessecary?

Unfortunately I just can't shake the run of bad luck I have had with my engine.
I got to 18hrs on my bike after some engine problems at 2hrs. At 18hrs the bike started smoking excessively and running rough. It has been with the dealer for the last four weeks with possibly another two weeks wait for parts-piston rings etc.

I change out my oil every two hours with the recommended oil.

With two engine teardowns and rebuilds in 18hrs I would love to have the bike run normally again so i could ride it a bit more! Still got 50 or so hours to go before I hit the 70 hr service!

Anyway I have been given the impression that I am covered by warranty so hopefully things turn out ok.

See I've meet the forum troll. Look simple question no need to be a dick about it. If you've got nothing constructive to say get back under your bridge.

When you've been around a bit longer, you'll perhaps understand why your oil question got the response it did.

If you want to know what oil to use, read the manual and make your own mind up.

And if you've got nothing civil to say, don't bother posting at all.

Greg,
Payback asked a Civil question and he's a new member here, perhaps you should have either give hime the advice he asked, or told him to refer to the CD/Manual, not try to make him look like an idiot.
Anyway Welcome to the Forum Payback.

Totally agree!

Knobber - Sounds like you have some nasty problems with your bike. I had nasty problems and eventually gave the bike back and got a refund. Suggest you do the same as 2 engine rebuilds in 18hrs just ain't on IMHO.

2 engine failures for 18 hours is not good but these bikes are race machines it comes with the territory having owned lots of other manufacturers bikes I have found the BMW no better or worse than the others for reliability only difference I have found is that when you do gat an issue you can go back to a dealer and get it sorted and not told "sorry mate only has a 30 warranty what do you expect its a competition bike"

FWIW I was reading my Husaberg maintenance manual this weekend. It also says that the engine needs to be pulled apart after 60 hours or 45 hours if the bike is used for competitions (reference).

The 2010 KTM EXC manual says similar - 90/45hrs before full engine stripdown (reference).

Payback - I posted some blurb on this for the G450X recently on this forum. See post 7 in this thread:

You can see the entire thread here:

Should provide all the info you need.

Mike.

+ 1 Thanks Windy, that was the exact thread I was looking for, thought it was over on the Thumpertalk website couldn't find it.

Just as a side note Windy regarding your bike not starting. I also had one that died on me with 9km on it.

Luckily mine was replaced as it had less than a hour on it. I've also been made aware of another unit via the forums here in South Africa that also died after it had a 60 hour service.

Turns out my bikes flywheel was not installed properly at factory if that makes any sense.

So what's the score on 70hrs rebuilds of G450Xs?

Greg

Mine apparently had a 70hr service carried out at about 50 hrs by the dealer before I bought it (approved used) - at least it's got the appropriate stamp in the service book. I was informed that nothing needed replacing. The bike's got 104 hrs on it now and I'm unlikely to do a service at 120 hrs, though I may investigate it after the summer. I'm just using mine for green laning so it's not getting thrashed too much.

There's nothing popping up on the ADVRider G450X thread about 70hr rebuilds either. Interestingly Husky have apparently extended the service interval dramatically on their TE449 but I'm not sure if they've modified the engine.

130 hours, no problems yet no 70 hour rebuilt.
one of these day's valve inspection 2 more rides and at 140 hour i wil enter the Breslau rally.

still no oil use. power enough, only problem is the side stand that broke of
