6,000 miles, 2009 model G650XC.

Was replacing a failed Sprag clutch and checking the valve clearances when l found this damage to the camshafts and plain bearing.. Any ideas how this has happened? the bike has never been ran low on oil while i,ve owned it the past year (brought with 2,000 miles on the clocks) and carried out a changed at 3,000 miles before doing another 3,000 recently in Morocco.

So far i,ve checked the oil pumps for damage but they are perfect, is it worth stripping the engine to check the main and big end bearings before l fork out for new camshafts and housings?

I know someone breaking a XMoto. Engine complete - might be worth buying that if parts are expensive (which I assume they will be).

Look at the cam lobes.

They are perfect. In the event of lubrication failure, the cam lobes will show damage long before bearing damage, so you can be sure there was no lubrication failure. The scoring suggests an engine which was not properly cleaned before assembly: I.E. a manufacturing fault.
Me: I would complain to manufacturer.
Failing that:
Damage is minor. Just use it as it is, and it will be ok.
If you feel you cannot live with it, (I could), get the camshaft bearings metal sprayed. This will restore the cams back to standard. Housings are not badly damaged and will reuse.
