lol..ME AGAIN!!!!

ANother odd one that i haven't had any luck solving, but that I really though reinstalling windaz might have cured.....

For months I haven't been able to get into many games .....the introduction video starts then crashes back to desktop, though sometimes it's still running and I can tab back to it for a few seconds before it crashes again.

If i can get past this I can sometimes get into the game but otherwise, i'm stuffed.

Grphx drivers all latest (GF4 ti4200 nvidea) Same with Audigy 2 drivers....I've tried several things i found on various searches in forums but still no luck..

Bright ideas anyone???

rubbish power supply?

Nope...50% overrated, kept clean and dust free....and that 50% over was measured at the peak of last summer when i had a few additional fans running .

I have a sneaky feeling it's my Bios.....it's not the latest version and i did come across a reference to the old version causing probs with some types of 3d accelerated videos........have d/loaded current latest bios and was about to take a very very deep breath before flashing mine ..then i noticed my floppy drive isn't working so i cant make a boot disc.

ARSE!!

Bizarrely, as if it was aware I was slagging it off, the damn machine allowed me to have a bash on Dungeon Keeper 2 earlier.....did the video first time and no probs.

Doncha just hate intermittant prblems with no apparent logical reason behind them!!!!

funny things, floppy drives. i've had 2 fail on my PCs within a few weeks of each other.

BIOS update theory sounds a good possibility. it's when you want to flash one, that you think you might have been better off buying a gigabyte MB with dual BIOS. saves all the worry. gonna get one next time. maybe.

then you can start experimenting with endless memory timings/CAS latency/CPU voltage type stuff :D
