I have decided to change my springs for some Hyperpro ones (yet to be purchased) and I have been trawling the forums looking at the "how to" threads and posts. Because I am a spanner-numpty I have now decided that the best way might be to investigate getting it done by someone who knows what they are doing.

I am based in Reading and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a garage that would take my shocks out, change the springs and put the shocks back in. I'd rather have it done by someone who has worked on GS's before rather than a work experience lad who knows how to hit things with a hammer.

All suggestions greatfully received. :):):)

i have done it,

once the shock is off the bike, fairly easy task, although,

it's not very apparent how the shock comes apart so dont fiddle with anything because

you need a shock compressor (very different to spring clamps)

the shock body is compressed and the top cap reveals a circlip which is removed, then the top cap comes off along with the spring.

the reverse is done to fit.

either take to steptoe, or follow http://halmvos.smugmug.com/gallery/305001_ezCtk/2/12117493_JE3dT#12117486_ajDiY

Very tempted to try myself but as I said, I'm not that confident.

I must contact Steptoe:bow
