Garmin 2610. Playing up?

Hoping someone can advise. Just returned from longish trip to Morocco and Western Sahara. Whilst in Morocco the unit starting playing up! I'd switch it on, select a waypoint. Everything was fine for a minute or so, then the unit would, for no apparent reason, revert to going through the intitial start up sequence of screens ..... then back to the route to the selected waypoint, then almost immediately, back to the startup screens sequence, ad infinitum!

I kinda think it might be some sort of bad connection either at the battery end or between the unit and the power cable? I should add that I went through a fair bit of rain prior to this happening.

Since getting back I've run the unit off the supplied power supply cable direct to the mains ........ and no problems so far as I can see.

Any thoughts, or ideas as to where to start?

bad connection on the bike lead. check the little spring connectors for corrosion, particularly the bottom one.

And the same little palte on the back of the GPS. I'll guess you'll see some nice green goo in the area.

ACF 50 / WD40 would be my starting points as I already have them in the garage

Almost anything will do that doesn't attack the plastic / contacts so scotchbrite isn't a very good idea but 3 in 1 oil or electrical contact cleaner should work as well.
