I've just bought a Garmin 2620 from a mate of mine. Good condition, all extras included, 2008 mapping installed, and working fine. Bike mount and electrics are present all ready to be fitted.

Having read up on here very little mention is made of the 2620 other than it is less suited to bike use due to it's hard drive, as opposed to the 2610's card system. Something to do with it coping less well with vibration. Does anyone have experience of this model ? Good or bad I'd like to know more about this 'vibration' issue and what affect it actually has on the unit.

Also, is it possible to create routes for it on the PC and send them to the unit? The handbook makes no mention of this.

Re the routes then yes, you load the mapsource software on the computer and you can plan routes etc, then hook up to the unit and up load them.

I have a 2610 so cant offer advice on how the unit will perform, but the biggest advantage for me is the fact that I can put the card in a usb 2 card reader and change mapsets etc at usb 2 speed, where as if I connect up the unit is its usb 1 only. Add that to the fact that I can just change the card over and have different maps instantly.

I had a 2620 with touratech mount and worked fine, couple of mates also have them but the vibration is the issue, theirs switched themselves off once speed got up above 50 or so, so make sure they are insulated and they are just fine.

Another question: The unit came with City Navigator Europe 2008 installed, together with the disc and unlock code. Installing the disc onto my PC takes me through the install wizzard where it tells me I have successfully unlocked maps following input of the 25 digit code.

However, when I bring up my Mapsource only my previously unlocked maps come up as unlocked. The 2008 version has a yellow tab at bottom right of screen stating map detail locked.:nenau

I can download routes using my previous version (V8) but the GPS tells me the route does not match the maps installed precisely and asks if I wish to recalculate. I want these things talking the same language, without any conflicts, so any suggestions as to a remedy would be welcome. I'll readily admit to being a complete techno-numpty so the simpler the better:thumb
