Garmin 2720 - good palce to buy one?

I bought my first GPS (an SPIII) from Aspids in Portugal about 2 years ago, and must say at the time I was very impressed with their service - in fact I couldn't fault them, and the unit arrived all the way from Portugal within 2 working days.

So when I was looking for a 2610 recently, Aspids were my first choice, but eventually gave up in frustration and bought through GPS Warehouse in this country. The Aspids website is very slow and eventually when you get to the end and you are asked to enter your password - it wouldn't accept it, even though Aspids themselves had e-mailed it to me the day before. I couldn't register again as it said my e-mail address was already used (it was - by me) and the British telephone number displayed just gets you an answering machine. In the end I must have left 4 answer-machine messages and sent about 4 e-mails and nobody has contacted me yet - that was about 5 weeks ago. :banghead:

Someone on this site recommended GPS Warehouse, and I ordered it over the phone. The only hassle for me (VAT registered business) with buying in this country, is that I have to pay the VAT and claim it back from Mr Brown, whereas Aspids would not have charged me VAT in the first place. Perhaps I just a bad experience with Aspids; perhaps they've now ironed out the Gremlins and it may work fine for you.

Would I use Aspids again? Probably - if I could only get through to them. :eek

I ordered my GPS from Aspid 12 months back, they were very good then, even rang me back in the UK. The order came in two days and I could track it across Europe, which was good fun. I hope they get there act together again soon.

Thanks Taff - thats exactly the sort of hassle I want avoid, if it turned up faulty it sounds like it would be a nightmare to get it resolved through them. The no VAT upfront is appealing though.... :thumb
