You could try formatting the card out of the device in your Mac first.
Ok that sounds logical, (and you'll have to excuse my stupidity on this bit) - how do I do that? I also presume there is no format card option in the Nav V (unliek a camera)?

I have just updated the maps on a brand new, fresh out of the box, Nav V.
I slotted in the cheapest micro-SD card I could find in Maplins, connected it my my Mac via Garmin Express and away it went. The whole process was quicker than it first locating sateilltes.

Guilty as charged, me lud. Here's my plea in mitigation....
Anyway, it's more useful than a set of trick levers and footrests or whatever it is that Nutty is trying to persuade me to buy![]()

Before you get a flood of replies saying bods can't get it. It's NTU Unicode only.

WTF does this mean please? Garmin express says my maps are up to date with 2016.10. I'm obviously a bod who can't get it!!
Hi chaps,
I updated my Nav V the other day. It wanted to put the new maps on my sd card whereas I wanted them on the unit so I can swap cards if / when I need to. I took the sd card out, tried again and the maps were installed on the unit as I wanted.
Have I broken some rule by doing this? In which case do I need to apologise to Garmin and promise not to do it again?
It seemed the logical thing to do, but sometimes Garmin procedures are not logical at all.
Matt
what is and whats the difference between the NTU unicode vs the other option?
It's a different version of the map & only works with newer devices. My 660 is up to date with 2016.10.
Having spoken to Garmin, it is possible that this latest map update (2016.20) is only currently available for BMW Nav. V's.
Has anyone found it for other Devices, e.g. Zumo 660.
My Garmin Express says, "You're up to date!" with Software Version: 5.10 & Map: Full Coverage of Europe 2016.10.
