Anyone else got one of these ?

Couple of problems with it.

When riding off road it turns it self off. Loose battery ?

When I bought it, it was advertised with EU basemap, however when I turn it on it comes up with Basemap Americas V2 2.00.

Also has anyone tried downloading maps onto it ? I bought memory map, which was advertised as being compatable with the 60cs, however I can only upload waypoints and tacks, not map sections.

Otherwise perfectly happy with it.:mmmm

The loose battery thing is spot on.

google in usenet under sci.geo.satellite-nav for this. You can pack the batteries in so they don't move about.

Basemap, sounds like you already know what's going on with that don't you...

Yup....batteries is a problem with these. Get a little piece of foam rubber and stick it in the battery compartiment and close it. It holds 'em tight - better still rig up 12v power supply on the bike.

KTM:

If you bought your GPSR from a Garmin authorized retailer in Europe, and have since discovered it contains an Americas basemap, just have a little talk with the retailer, and ask them if they would prefer to quietly replace your GPSR with an Atlantic basemap unit, or if they would prefer that you write Garmin and inquire why a European retailer is selling Americas basemap units.

I promise you, you will have the FULL attention of the retailer if you ask that question. If it is a Garmin authorized retailer, they have been playing games that they simply should not be playing, and Garmin will lift their ticket in a heartbeat if they find out about this.

I found that packing a bit of tin foil at the ends of the batteries was better than using some packing around them. But as Gecko says its best to wire it up to the bike. (End of problem) As for the basemap re Pan. And for uploading non Garmin maps it all seems to be out of order....
