The company from whom I wish to purchase this device are advising me not to at the moment. They say that they have had many returned from dissatisfied customers. Yet there a definitely some on this forum who are happy.
From those in the know, what are the Pro's and Con's.

Thanks,

John

GTM thingies....

I understand that the problem is not so much in the modules, but in the signal available in the UK. I have one of these and went on hols to the South of France. It was excellent! Gave up-to-date info on motorways and major roads for 100's of miles around. The 2720 then asks if you'd like to avoid the trouble and routes you round it. Works very well (in France).
Then you get home and the signal is awful! Half the time there is no information available, although to be fair, when it is there, the system does the re-routing thing with no bother.
My investigations so far have led me to believe that the signal is sent out on a side-band (?) of Classic FM, and where the coverage for that station is ok, then you can get GTM stuff, where the Classic FM is weak, then you get problems.
I have complained to both Garmin (no response at all) and Trafficmaster, who supply and broadcast the info. T'master simply say they are in consultation with Garmin. Not a lot of help when you've spent the best part of a hundred quid on the kit. :spitfire
Hope this helps.

having owned a GTM11 for 3 months in the UK, i'd say that the GTM traffic system isn't worth it's salt ..... :( :( :(

The traffic information is not accurate and you'll frequently wonder where the traffic jams REALLY are...... nothing to do with Garmin though...... :spitfire
