Good friend just bought a Garmin iQUE 3600 off fleabay... it worked fine until he installed the discs onto the computer, he's now having a problem with the maps

His words "When hard syncing, errors come up and tell me I need to syncronise the unit using outlook because the user of the unit has changed"

All Dutch to me....

Can anyone offer any advice? it seems that as soon as he tried to load maps for the first time its picked up the fact he's a new user, but I don't know what to asvise him

Hmmm... I haven't got an iQue but I think the iQue is basically a PDA which I do know a bit about, so try this:

When the iQue is connected to a PC it will probably try to connect to the PC using Microsoft ActiveSync. ActiveSync pops up when the USB cable is connected between the PC and the iQue. There will probably be an option to set up a 'guest partnership' - try this and see if it connects.

It sounds as though the iQue was set to synch with Outlook by its previous owner, so look through the Active Sync options to disable this feature, then the 'sync with Outlook' message should disappear.

Once the iQue is connected to the PC you can install maps and other s/w - read the help files or follow the prompts.

I've been using an HP iPAQ PDA with TomTom GPS for quite a while, and I always tell ActiveSync to set up a 'guest partnership'. Seems to work fine for me :)
