Garmin Lifetime Update

They (Garmin) are cheeky f@ckers !
I have bought the lifetime updates for my Z660.

As I see it, they have committed themselves to continuously producing updates that are compatible with the the zumo 660, until the last 660 on Earth stops working.

If, in a few years time, they stop producing new maps that are compatible with it (like they have done with the 2610), then 'lifetime' is meaningless; in fact misleading.

I expect there's something in the small print that tries to let them do this, but it'd still be worth challenging.

ps @Schtum: It is capitalism, but it's free-marketeering, light-touch-regulation, Lehman-Goldman-Sachs type capitalism. :)

Yeh !
Tree-hugging, organic, Scandinavian, free-range, union-loving, social-working, democratic pluralist Capitalism. In such a country, Garmin would still be making non-NT updates for the 2610 !! ;)

Nah....I worked with hip-capitalists back in the 70's. They were probably worse than the "real thing". By definition, Capitalism must include a measure of obsolescence in order to stimulate the consumers' desires for new products. It begs the question about what will be next after NT with its text-to-voice and 3D navigation.

I reckon next thing will be 'real' ie photorealistic maps..

To some extent that's available already and you don't need to display maps -
