Garmin Quest - Navigator II file compatibility

I'm sure there is a thread out there which answers this, but 45mins searching hasn't found it.

Carcher2k & I are off round Britain in a couple of weeks.

He has a BMW Navigator II and I was thinking of getting a Garmin Quest as TomTom can't deliver the Rider they promised.

Question 1.

If I had the Quest, create all the waypoints I need to in its Mapsource City Select. Can Carcher2k upload it into his Navigator II?

Question 2.

Re. above. Does it matter which version of Mapsource v6/v7 I have versus which version he has?

I did not intend to create the whole route, just the waypoints. Then on our respective gps's, we would just select the next major waypoint and have the gps's take us there via any intermediate waypoints.

Keep to just waypoints and you'll be fine. Your buddy will be on City Navigator 6 or 7 and your (soon to be Quest) will be City Select 6 or 7.

If you download one of his routes (or vice-versa) the unit will 'complain' the route was not created with the same mapset and offer to leave as is or recalculate.

I'd ensure you had mirrored preferences and use waypoints between you and all should be well.
