I know this has been covered in other threads and I think that I have read most of them through a search. but could you guys give me a liitle advice before I buy?

I am leaning towards the quest but have a few questions

Smaller Screen - Is it OK when in use on the bike?

Smaller memory - 256mb - Is this sufficient for small tours into europe. I mainly do weekends and only 1 week trips's

Waypoints - Does the quest have all the fuel, lodgings, restaurants etc in its memory like the 2610.

Are there any main reasons that I am missing why I should pay £200 more for the 2610.

Thanks in advance

(1) It's OK if your eyesight is good. It is not so good if you want more of an overview on the map, by zooming out.
Then you do need the bigger screen like on the 2610 / 276C to see what you are doing.

(2) 256 is fine for a planned 5000km trip. You can select the chunks of map that cover your route.

(3) Yes

(4) Not if you have read all previous posts about it :D

Cheers,
Michel

The Quest screen is smaller but okay
I used a GPS V for a couple of years with no problems.
The screen was only 12 inches (30 cm) from my eyes
Having said this, I now have a GPSmap 276C

The Quest has a rechargeable battery that will last for up to 20 hours (backlight off)
and can be used off the bike for trip planing or as a hiking unit.
The SP2610 has no battery at all.

The Quest has 243 Mb of internal memory for maps
City Select map sizes per country are here http://home.online.no/%7Esigurdhu/CS_Europe-v6.htm

SP2610

I bought a SP2610 and altough it hasn't got any battery back up, I think it's the best move, both for the bike and car.

Great screen in the sun, much better than the SPIII that I had and recalculates really fast , avoids missing turns etc.

Haven't used all the features yet but working on it.

I'm after a cheap second hand 3+ or V for me and my son to go walking with, so if anyone has one, drop me a PM.

Gary.
