Garmin - Quest vs 2610

I know this will have been discussed before but I can't easily find it on the archive. Can anyone summarise the issues?

Quest - battery powered for use off bike
2610 - no battery. power on bike or where there's a socket only

Quest - small screen
2610 - big screen

Quest - buttons only
2610 - touch screen and remote if required

Quest - good processing speed
2610 - even quicker processing speed

Quest 1 - 243mb usable memory
Quest 2 - All of Europe on board plus 243mb usable memory
2610 - 2gig card gets you all of world map and all of europe with spare

Quest 1or2 - 10,000 tracklog
2610 - so little tracklog you'll fill it in a day

Price then comes into it for each unit....

if they made a 2610 with a battery and the tracklog size of the quest, that's what I'd look at .............but they don't (yet?)

the new 2820 has the tracklog capability, and loads more, but no battery.

try and see them side by side, or even have someone drive you somewhere and play/experiment with & see them in use side by side.

I've had a Quest and found it a little small (but plenty of people find them OK).
A GPS III, a little basic.
Brief ownership of a street pilot III, would probably of stuck with that if it hadn't broke (but after the 2610 I'm glad it did).
A 2610. Love it. Really easy to use in the car and on the bike, it has a remote control which is handy and a nice big clear touch screen.

Depends what you want to use it for I suppose, the quest is more portable but if you only intend to use it on the bike or in the car then thats not really an issue.

I would love a 2820, it sounds the business judging by Pan's review and the bluetooth facility would negate the need for seperate handsfree in the car. However at the mo I can't justify the extra cost.
