It has a 2 way Radio ( upto 12 miles )
Digital Compass
Barometer , Altimeter and Temp
Waypoint routing , you can send your waypoint to anyone in range
Shows basic world map and has internal storage for mapsource with turn by turn instructions , colour screen and lots of other stuff i couldn't understand or remember

PS............... Free mapping upgrade for 2610 is out in 2 weeks ( so Garmin said )

I've looked at these James.....I'm seriously considering getting a couple for Moto-Morocco

Don't be tempted into buying one for UK use....for one thing, it's illegal to use here.....the radio is way to powerful and I believe the frequncies it uses are illegal here as well...you could well be transmitting on an ambulance frequency or something

Secondly, it only holds 56meg internal memory and it's not expandable......you could easily fit all of the Moroccon topo maps on it, with the worldmap base routes as well (23 odd MB) but it won't take much of the UK mapping.......as an idea, the south east and south west of England, from Ipswich downwards, comes out at over 60mb and that's using the older smaller CN6 mapping.

The weather bit wouldn't work over here either..that's a North American service


Other than that, lovely bit of kit

EDIT ...PS, the Morocco top maps aren't routeable, but you can work around that

We used these units we went rode acorss Central Asia. The units themselves are excellent - absolutely rock solid and very 'military'-like. The radios work well, GPS is good obviously, the only downside being the mono screen and the attention they got from border guards/police

As Fanum comments .. Rhino is not available or sold by Garmin or any of its reseller's in the Uk.
Its illegal to sell ,or if caught selling or using them (The same also applies to anyone with or caught using a re-radiating antenna, as well, so those whose cars have athermic windscreens be-warned) .

If you get one from whatever sources, it can be mounted. The cradle is a RAM-HOL-GA20 and with a u-bolt mount, such as RAM-B-149Z and shimbe RAP-319, looks like this

I’ve looked at these units too. If Garmin did a Euro version on PMR frequency’s and took microSD cards it would be a big hit for bikers looking for a two-in-one unit. And I’m sure Autocom would soon put together a noise cancelling head set for it too (like the Kit21/23).
